Bumgenius diapers

This is a little video about the cloth diapers that I plan to use. Seriously, why would anybody use disposables when this is out there? They have snaps so they grow with the baby, and they work from 7-35 pounds. I bet daycares would even be willing to use these because they're so easy.

I've read that the recommended amount of these to buy is 24. They are expensive at $18/each, but I think it's worth it. That means I will spend $432 for diapers for this baby from birth through potty training. (maybe even less if I get any as gifts) I've heard that if you buy in bulk and use coupons, you'll spend about $40/month on disposables. If your child is in diapers for 24 months (and I know it's usually longer than that), you'll spend $960 on disposable diapers that will still be sitting in landfills when your great-great-great-grandchidren are born. I know that our water/electricity bills will go up when we use cloth diapers, but it definitely won't be that much.

When the next baby (or babies) comes along, we won't have to buy any diapers at all!

Oh, and I plan to use cloth wipes, too. Those cost about $20. I don't know how much disposable wipes cost, but I bet you can go through $20 pretty quickly!

Yay for bumgenius!

Have you thought about making cloth wipes? You can get flannel for cheap anywhere (Hobby Lobby, Hancock, even Walmart) and all you have to do is cut it (8" by 7" approximately) with pinking shears, or you can double the layers and just sew the edges! Super easy, cool (tons of patterns out there), and cheap, too. That's what I'm planning on doing.
