Our cute baby

I love my baths now that I can actually sit in the water!

What a face!

All ready to go to church! Daddy says this outfit is too frilly.
Church wore me out.

Look at how well I hold my head up!

I LOVE being in the sling. This is the one place that always calms me down when I'm upset. It's also the only place where I'll actually take a pacifier.

My birthday

My birthday was Thursday and it was a pretty good day. I spent most of the day looking at this:

Eleanor and I had a good day together. She would eat, then make lots of cute faces at me, and then fall asleep in my arms. Now sometimes she will even stick her tongue out at you if you stick yours out at her first. It's so funny! Then, Hunter came home from work and picked up my present from Eleanor on his way. It was beautiful!

For my birthday I also got a cool book by Lonely Planet called "The Travel Book" and a gift card for Chick-fil-a. I've been enjoying the book and the gift card has already been put to use. :) I also got a birthday card from my sister that we have been trading back and forth for 14 years. She pointed out this year that the card is now half my age. So weird. She has to hold onto it for 11 months of the year and every year she thinks she's lost it.

After Hunter got home, I went out to Target by myself. It was nice to get to shop without worrying about Eleanor. After I got home and fed her again, we went out for Mexican food. The Mexican restaurant near us is good to go to with Eleanor because they're very fast. She didn't start to get fussy until right after I finished dinner, so it was perfect timing.

After she went to bed, Hunter and I watched Steel Magnolias. It's such a good movie but so sad. There are definitely some hilarious parts too though - my favorite was the red velvet armadillo cake. I decided that's what I want for my birthday next year. :)

Eleanor sleeps in her own crib, but some Saturday mornings when she wakes up too early she eats and goes back to sleep in our bed.

2 months

My baby is 2 months old today! I took her to the pediatrician for her checkup, and she grew 1.75 inches in the last month! She's now 23.5 inches long and only 10.2 pounds. She's still in the 75th percentile for height and dropped to the 25th for weight. I asked it it was a problem that she sleeps so much at night - she now consistently sleeps 8-10 hours - and isn't eating sometime in there, but the pediatrician said she's still gaining weight so we shouldn't worry. Believe me, I don't want to wake her up in the middle of the night, but I would if I needed to.

She also got her shots, which was not fun. There were 2 injections and then one oral vaccine. The nurse was great and did it all very quickly, but poor Eleanor screamed and cried real tears for the first time. She wasn't the only one who cried. :( The nurse did the shots first and then the oral vaccine and Tylenol, so those calmed her down a little bit because she got to eat something. They let me stay there and nurse her for a little while too, and I think that really helped. She was asleep in her sling by the time we checked out.

As I mentioned, she is sleeping GREAT! I normally put her down around 8:00 or 9:00 and she usually wakes up sometime between 5:00-7:00 AM. Every once in a while she'll wake up hungry during the night and of course I get up and feed her, but that's only happened maybe three times in the last two weeks. She eats every 2-3 hours during the day though. She is smiling all the time now and, as long as she doesn't get overtired or overstimulated, she's a very easy baby! Now, if only we could get her to nap somewhere besides the swing or my sling...

Obama Interview

This interview goes right along with my last post, so I wanted to share. I love his line about all of this conflict being like "catnip" to the media.

She definitely has Hunter's nose!

I thought this was a funny comparison. That's Hunter on the right. He has always loved the holidays!

She does NOT like it when I try to use the head support with this wrap...she loves to look out and see the world!

Happy baby!

She's really too young for the Bumbo, but we just tried it out. Look at her smiling at Hunter!

Sleeping through the night!

Eleanor turned 6 weeks old yesterday, which is when I've heard babies might start sleeping through the night. I guess somebody told Eleanor that, because she slept for 8 hours straight last night! She fell asleep around 9:00 and woke up at 5:00 on the dot! The longest she's ever gone is 6 hours and it's usually more like 5, so this was a very nice surprise! Now, if we can just make a habit of this! Oh, and of course I woke up at 3:00 and spent the next two hours checking on her, drifting back off to sleep a little, and then jerking awake and feeling the need to go check on her again. :)
