I had my first ultrasound this morning, and the doctor very quickly found the baby and the heartbeat. The baby measures at 1.5 cm - about the size of a kidney bean. I am so, so relieved! It brought tears to my eyes to see this tiny little baby. Just 32 weeks to go...
My doctor did say that I'm considered at risk this time, and that I can have all the ultrasounds I want. She said to call any time I have questions or I'm concerned. She said 24 weeks will probably be the hardest time for me and that it will be easier once I get to 28 weeks and I feel the baby move regularly.
The picture looks kind of funny because the machine was out of film! I was pretty upset, although I didn't say anything, until the doctor suggested that I use my cell phone to take a picture. She said I can come back next week to get another ultrasound and a picture, but we'll be in Costa Rica. I'll just wait until next time, I think. I go back in 4 weeks.
This is a wonderful Christmas Eve!
