What a week!

Up until this past week, Eleanor was on a great schedule. We had our system and I knew what to expect. Well, it's been totally different this past week! Mainly, we've just had some rough nights. She used to sleep from about 10-2, then eat, and then go right back to sleep from 3-6. The other night she would NOT go back to sleep so I was up with her from 1:30-6:00! I'm still recovering from that night. But then last night she made up for it and slept from 10-3. I finally woke her up at 3 because I felt like she was going way too long between eating, but in hindsight I think that was stupid and I should have just let her sleep. It's hard, because you keep waiting for the night that the baby will sleep longer than ever, but then when it happens you just worry that something is wrong!

On Wednesday we visited the BCC lab school, and I think we're going to start going. It's a program that's really more for parents than for the babies, and its purpose is to teach parents about child development. Once a month Hunter and I will go to a class in the evening where we'll learn about the topic for the month. For example, how does the baby's use of her senses enhance her brain development? Then, once a week during the day, Eleanor and I will go to the lab school and do activities that go along with that topic. Eleanor's definitely on the young side, but it will help me to see older babies and what they're learning to do. Plus, it gets me out of the house and interacting with other adults.

Eleanor had a couple of little milestones this week. On Wednesday she smiled at me for the first time! Now, sometimes she happens to smile unintentionally and it's cute, but this time we were playing on her little activity mat and she looked at my face, focused, and her face just lit up! It was so cute and I could tell she actually meant to do it!

She has also learned how to roll onto her side and she's quite good at it. I think it will still be a while before she rolls over, but this is a step. When she's on her stomach she can lift her head enough to turn it from one side to the other. (Look left, then look right) She does not enjoy this and she makes a lot of noise in the process, but she does such a great job!

Eleanor loves laying on her back on the mat and looking at all of the animals hanging down. She's not coordinated enough yet to reach out and grab one, but she has grabbed onto them before just as she's batting her arms around. She'll lay there for about 20 minutes at a time.

You're such a good mommy! I think I remember that you taught Spanish, right? Are you speaking Spanish with Eleanor?
