3 months!

Sweet Arthur turned 3 months old yesterday!  I can't believe this little guy has only been in our lives for 3 months; I can't imagine our family without him!  Here are some of his latest developments:

  • Arthur laughed out loud for the first time on Tuesday!  It was just the two of us and I was playing around with him.  His laugh is more of a high pitched squeak - it's the cutest sound ever!  In general he seems to have a very happy personality as long as other people are around.  I'm pretty sure I have a little extrovert on my hands; I'm not sure how that happened in this family!
  • Arthur LOVES to watch his big sister!  He is fascinated by her!  I can get him to do good tummy time if I prop him up in front of her so he has to lift his head to watch her.  She isn't exactly the "little mommy" type of big sister, but she does bring him toys and stipulate which blanket he can lie on, etc.
  • He's becoming a good night sleeper, though it can be difficult to soothe him to sleep.   (This is frustrating for me because Eleanor was a great self-soother by 5 or 6 weeks old.  Arthur is not at all.)  We're figuring each other out though.  If I wake him up to eat around 10:00 before I go to bed, he usually wakes up one other time in the night and then gets up for the day around 7:30.
  • He's definitely developing a good morning nap.  He'll go down for a nap around 8:30 or 9:00 and sleep for 2.5-3 hours.  This is by far his easiest nap of the day.  The rest of the day he really fights naps and they always last exactly 45 minutes.  I think the afternoon nap is supposed to develop a few weeks after the morning nap though, so I'm really looking forward to that!
  • Arthur is growing!  I tried to measure him just like they do at the doctor's office, and I got 25".  I looked it up online and that says 75th to 90th percentile for height, which goes along with where he has always been.  He has officially outgrown all of his 3 month clothes that snap in the crotch - onesies and sleepers - but he can still fit in most of the 3 month pants and shirts.  I think he has a long torso like his mama.  In fact, even some of his 3-6 month clothes are starting to be a little snug.
  • He loves to put his hands in his mouth, but he hasn't quite figured out how to pick things up and put them in his mouth.  I'm trying to prepare for that day though, and we've been teaching Eleanor what kinds of toys are appropriate to give to Arthur.

I guess that's it!  We love this happy, growing, smiley boy so much!

All bundled up!  Yes, it even gets cold here in Florida occasionally.  Check out the boots!

Happy Clemson fan!  I guess nobody told him the outcome of the Orange Bowl.

Possibly my favorite picture of him!
