Spring Break Project #5: Nursing Cover

I got my directions at this website. I'm not sure how much I'll use it, but I figured it would be a good project to try and it might come in handy when I'm in public. It was extremely easy to make and took me less than 45 minutes! I already had the fabric, so the only materials I had to buy were the D rings and the boning. I think I spent under $5. I had a hard time finding the boning, although Joann's did have it even though two different ladies who work there told me that they didn't. I did also add the pocket on the back with a baby washcloth.
Project #6: Maya Wrap
Penny also enjoyed the wrap - can't you tell? This is a Maya Wrap, otherwise known as a Ring Sling. I got the directions from this website. It was very easy to make - it's another project that took under 45 minutes. You need 2 1/2 yards of fabric (if you're shorter then you can make it with less) so that cost about $10, and I bought the rings on ebay for $5 including shipping. I tried Michael's, Joann's, and Wal-mart first but I couldn't find them in a store. I wish I had gotten different fabric, because I didn't read the directions first. They point out that both sides will show (I managed to make mine so that the back side doesn't show too much) so you should buy fabric that doesn't have a wrong side. I'm still learning how to wear it correctly, but the website with directions also has a link to videos about how to wear it.

Great job, Beth! Reminds me of my creation of a homemade Elizabethon collar for Zoe when she was spade a few weeks ago. I went to PetSmart and they were wanting to charge me $12 for a piece of plastic that she would only wear for 10 days. So for economic and ecoloogical reasons, I went home and cut me out some cardboard and, with a little bit of ducktape, it worked just fine. Only had to replace it once when Zoe kept soaking it in her water bowl as she drank. Long live home-grown!
You are freakin amazing! The money that you're saving by doing this projects is amazing. What are people going to buy you for shower gifts?
